The Federation of Small Businesses – what it can do for you…

fsbSome times it is really difficult to know whether you should join a small business support agency. When money is tight, and every penny being ploughed back into making your business a success it feels like an expense you cannot spare. There is also the time factor – networking is really important, but how many hours can you spare on what may seem, at face value, a social event?

Now, with the advent of closer ties and better communication via social media, it is easier to keep up to date with what is happening in your local area and on checking out the Federation of Small Businesses website today it is clear that the benefits of membership, used wisely, can really enhance your chances of success. For example, there is a free event run by the Taunton & District branch called How to Make Friends and Influence People on the 30th June 2015. It gives you the opportunity to meet branch and regional officers and pose questions of relevance to your business and your local area. Click on the link above to find out more and book your place – a hot buffet is provided.

The FSB has a website that offers links to lots of useful information, and to your regional news.  It is the UK’s largest campaigning pressure group and prides itself on promoting the interests of the self-employed and those running small businesses, and ensuring their contribution to the economy – local and national – is valued. Formed in 1974, it now has around 200,000 members across 33 regions and 188 branches. You can also follow them on Facebook and twitter.

So take a look and see what you think. Making links with other local businesses can give you greater power than working on your own and you can find new ways to market your work. If you are already a member let us know what you think!
