We thought you might like to know a little more about the business organisations Cornerstone Business Mentoring works with. Although our remit covers the whole of Somerset, we do actually have partner organisations that also work outside the county. Today we introduce you to West Devon Business Information Point (BIP) and highlight the testimonial the Managing Director has given us.
BIP is an Enterprise Agency set up to support start-up businesses in Devon and parts of Somerset. BIP is one of the Agencies that is delivering the New Enterprise Assistance (NEA) scheme, launched by the Department of Work and Pensions to encourage the recently unemployed to start their own businesses. It is a requirement of the scheme that each client accepts the services of a business mentor to help him / her develop a business plan. Cornerstone is providing mentor support to NEA clients in Somerset referred by BIP.
Stewart Horne, Managing Director of BIP, says:
“West Devon BIP (BIP) are working closely with Cornerstone Mentoring in the delivery of the New Enterprise Allowance programme with customers from Minehead, Taunton and Yeovil Job Centre Plus offices. In the first 3 months of the programme Cornerstone have mentored over 20 individuals, helping them put together their business plans prior to starting their businesses.”
“Without the Cornerstone mentoring team it would have been very difficult to find enough volunteers to meet a demand that has exceeded expectations. Cornerstone operate in a very professional manner and we look forward to further collaboration to help support the areas businesses”
It is great to have the sort of relationship we have with BIP. It keeps us very busy, so if you are reading this and feel you have skills you can share with start-up businesses we would love to hear from you!
